Overview
Striped bream stay in schools on soft bottoms, also brackish water. Feeds on worms and mussels, which it digs out of the sand. Male at first then changes sex to female.
Distribution
Mediterranean Sea, Bay of Biscay to South Africa. Canary Islands, Cape Verde Islands.
Habitat
Depth range: 2–150 m, in schools over soft bottoms; also in brackish water.
