Overview
A black ring around the base of the tail is a charecteristic. Lives on the sandy and rocky bottom, also in seagrass meadows. Young in brackish water. Sexually mature at the age of one year.
Distribution
France to Mauritania. Canary Islands and also the Mediterranean Sea (sargus)
Habitat
Depth range: 1–90 m.
