Overview
The Mediterranean Squirrelfish is one of the many species that have invaded the Mediterranean from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal. In the Mediterranean, the species is still extending its range to the west. As this is the only member of the family soldierfishes in the Mediterranean, it cannot be confused with other species.
Distribution
Mediterranean, Aegean and Levantine Sea. Widespread in the Indopacific.
Habitat
Depth range: 10–50 m.
