Sharpnose Sorcerer Eel

Sorcerer eels are deep-sea but young fish (to about 40 cm) of the Sharpnose sorcerer eel can also be found in caves in shallow water. The red gills of this night-active species can be seen through the transparent body.

Western Mediterranean. Wide spread in the Eastern Atlantic from Southern Portugal to Morocco, Madeira and Azores.

Depth range: 5–700 m; juveniles also in shallow caves.
