Palestinian Viper

It uses its venom to kill prey. The venom affects the blood vessels and lymphatic system. It acts to kill the prey but also causes the breakdown of the internal tissues as part of digestion, makes all the soft tissues of the body to turn into a "soup". The Viper then swallows the victim dead and can digest it slowly and thoroughly. The inedible parts such as fur and claws are later secreted in the snake's feces. The Viper is a nocturnal snake. During the day it will choose to stay cool hiding in various niches: under bushes or rocks. It may penetrate the vicinity of the humans and even enter homes to find a cool place to hide during the day.

Arid regions, but may be found around barns and stables. It has been seen entering houses in search of rodents.

The Palestine viper feeds mainly on rodents, amphibians, and other small animals.

It is viviparous, giving birth to live young.
