Overview
Preferssun-lit horizontal rocks with algal cover. Males with a very high, sail-like first half of the dorsal fin, as shown in the picture above. This species can also be recognised by a green ocellus with a red margin behind the eye. The spawning season lasts from April to June.
Distribution
Mediterranaen Sea, Black Sea, one record from the Atlantic coast of Morrocco.
Habitat
Depth range: 1–3 m, on sun-lit horizontal rocks with algal cover.
